Emery Brusset - Group Director

Emery Brusset has a background in sociology and international relations from Yale University and the London School of Economics. Since working for the UN humanitarian programme, he has gained over ten years' experience in evaluation consultancy, specialising in the design of methodologies for politically unstable environments. More recently Mr Brusset has been working with private sector clients, conducting social impact assessments combined with participatory consultations.
A French national, Mr Brusset lives in Belgium, and is trilingual in French, English and Spanish.

Ralf Otto - Senior Project Manager with specific responsibility for clients based in Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, and the EC

Ralf Otto is the main contact person for Channel and based in the Brussels‘office. Mr. Otto holds degrees in law and humanitarian aid from Germany, and has studied and worked in France, the USA and South Africa. He has gained experience in evaluations, research and private sector development programmes in Africa, Eastern and South Eastern Europe. Before joining Channel in 2004, Mr Otto occupied positions of responsibility in the management of evaluation studies and large projects in the field of international development.
A German national, Mr Otto lives in Brussels, and speaks English, French and Spanish.

Cécile Collin - Project Manager with specific responsibility for clients based in France and Belgium

Ms Collin holds a degree from the High School of Commerce in Reims, France, with a specialisation in Marketing and Communication. Before joining Channel Research in 2005, Cécile worked in financial management and marketing in the private sector. She undertook training in marketing and communication in Turkey, USA, Italy and China. She has also worked as a volunteer in development projects in 2002 in Lebanon and in 2004 in Madagascar.
Ms Collin is French national, based in Brussels, and speaks English, Spanish, German and Italian.

Annina Mattsson - Project Manager with specific responsibility for Nordic Countries and the UN

Ms Mattsson has a BA in European Studies and Spanish from King's College London and an MA in Violence, Conflict and Development from SOAS (School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London). She is a professional project management specialist, with a focus on deployment of teams in difficult conditions in very short timeframes. She has recently gained experience of active conflicts in the course of her work in Palestine.
Ms Mattsson is a Finnish national, based in Brussels, and speaks Swedish, Finnish, English, French and Spanish.

Augustin Ngendakuriyo - Project Manger with specific responsibility for clients based in Africa

Augustin Ngendakuriyo holds a Master in Economic Sciences from National University of Benin. He began working with Channel in 2002 as an independent consultant in Burundi, Benin and Congo. His areas of expertise are audit and financial management, as well as institutional development. In this capacity Augustin Ngendakuriyo has participated in several evaluations related to community rehabilitation, civil service and justice reform, and public health management..
A Burundese National, Mr Ngendakuriyo is based in office of Channel Research Tanganyka in Bujumbura, Burundi. He speaks French, English and Swahili.

Clotilde Gouley

Ms Gouley holds a degree from the Institute of Political Science in Lille and a Master's degree in International Conflict Analysis from the University of Kent at Canterbury, England. She has worked in France, Mali and for four years in Peru. In Peru, she carried out short-term consulting studies and long-term research work on conflicts around natural resources, with a special focus on mining. In this capacity she has participated in the Programme on Conflict and Collaboration in Natural Resource Management in Latin America and the Caribbean run by the University for Peace of United Nations, Costa Rica. More recently she has been working for Channel Research as a community relations consultant for Xstrata on the Koniambo Nickel Project.
A French national, Clotilde speaks French, English and Spanish.

Associates abroad

John Cosgrave

John Cosgrave is a resourceful and goal-oriented, multi-sectoral professional with strong evaluation, assessment and communication skills. He has excellent training, planning, project management and problem solving expertise. Mr Cosgrave has twenty-seven years of broad experience in over forty countries covering all aspects of managing both relief and development. He has a wide range of evaluation experience, generally as team leader. His assignments range from single project to multi-country and multi-agency studies.
Nationality: Irish

Herminio Castillo

Herminio Castillo holds a law degree from Universidad Autònoma de Madrid. He has many years of professional experience in transitional projects in the areas of emergency and development in Eastern Europe, Northern Africa and Central America. He has extensive knowledge and experience as an international consultant in evaluation, methodology and monitoring processes for agencies such as OSCE, OIM, ECHO, UNHCR, and others.
Nationality: Spanish

Yulia Immajati

Yulia Immajati is an Indonesian national trained in anthropology and the evaluation of humanitarian aid and conflict resolution. In the course of many assignments (for UNDP, DFID, Sida) she has solid field assessment experience, with a particular interest in women, armed conflict, and their livelihood coping strategies.

Bobby Lambert

Mr. Bobby Lambert has in-depth knowledge of organisational governance, leadership and management. His professional expertise ranges from training, facilitation and research to humanitarian operations and rural development. His professional experience entails 10 years as Chief executive of RedR (a humanitarian relief agency that trains, provides and supports people working in humanitarian programs) as well as 10 years of work in developing countries, mainly in Africa. He has worked with voluntary, academic, commercial and public-sector organisations which enables him to operate sensitively and effectively in a wide variety of cultural settings.
Nationality: Irish.

Mamuka Alavidze

Mr. Mamuka Alavidze holds a civil law diploma. He has vast experience in the humanitarian field, ranging from food and medical aid to rehabilitation and community mobilization. He has worked with different types of organizations including diplomatic missions, NGOs and governmental bodies. He acquired most of his experience in Southern Caucasus and has worked on several occasions in conflict areas. Mamuka Alavidze is also experienced in refugee issues, especially in Internally Displaced People matters. He has carried out monitoring and evaluation missions for EC funded projects on human rights and democratisation, as well as micro projects on local development and civil society.
Nationality: Georgian.

Channel maintains an extensive network of consultants and researchers, drawn from international organisations and universities, whose knowledge effectively covers all sectors of international humanitarian aid and conflict resolution, providing a rich information pool. Channel's colleagues work in all common languages and cultures.

To further meet all the needs of our clients, Channel Research has established a network of reliable partner organisations, universities and research institutions, NGOs and associations , who contribute to Channel's services.

Channel's work depends on trust and confidence between all parties involved. One important prerequisite for this is the company's independence and freedom from particular interest groups. This independence can enable us to obtain access to groups or information that project funders might not be able to. Channel's personnel are experienced in working in complex environments, delivering accurate and timely results in a sensitive manner. We are accustomed to working with access to privileged or confidential information, and are willing to operate in areas where others are hesitant to go.
