Recent Projects

East-CongoChannel Research is currently providing infield technical assistance gathering and analysing socioeconomic baseline information/data on communities in and around a clients mining concession, linked to an IFC compliant resettlement process.

In 2010-2011 Channel Research helped design the audit standards for minerals in the Great Lakes region for ITRI.

In 2010, we evaluated an international industry association’s investment in public health and helped establish a monitoring and evaluation system to assess the performance of their community outreach programs.

In 2009-2010, Channel Research carried-out a Social and Environmental Impact Assessment for  an international mining company in West-Africa using its dynamic approach and interacting with the company’s feasibility team to adapt the mine conception to identified risks. The study took a conflict-sensitive approach – in particular for the public consultation component – which showed particularly relevant in view of the tensions around the election process.

In 2009, Channel Research developed a community outreach toolkit for  a top level oil services company to facilitate the design, implementation and monitoring evaluation of its activities in challenging context. PipelineThe toolkit was designed to be used by teams on the ground with limited knowledge of community outreach and to facilitate their work while identifying and monitoring risks. The tool kit was applied in  Colombia, Mexico and Sudan.

In 2009 Channel also evaluated community development projects situated alongside the Baku Tbilissi Ceyhan pipeline. We also trained the Community Relations team for a nickel mine in the south Pacific.
